Leadership is what drives our business. It’s not that we want leaders—we need them.

All too often, people don’t step into leadership. I think there are a number of reasons for this and we’ll be examining those throughout this blog.

In the video above, I discuss one of the most common reasons people don’t rise to leadership—it’s the false belief that you must know everything about everything in order to lead anyone anywhere. Flush that. It’s wrong. We need leaders. We need you!

Think of our team like the U.S. Navy.

To be an Admiral, you pretty much need to know everything about everything. But, do you need to be an Admiral to lead? No.

Lieutenants lead. They lead on a different level and in a different way, but make no mistake they are leaders and they are essential to the mission at hand.

Our business is the same way. You don’t need to be a 5 Star Diamond to be a leader. You just need to decide that you want to lead and then commit to teaching people what you know. You don’t need to know everything, but you do need to be able to teach what you do know.

One of the rising leaders in our organization is Jen Kelley. She inspired this video and post in a conversation we had recently.  She told me about a new Coach Bootcamp that she was running using the 7 Day Quick Start training here on our site to teach the basics.

That’s leadership. It isn’t always grand. It isn’t always about filling a stadium with people. More frequently, it IS about finding a small group and saying to them, “You…come on. Follow me.”

Jen’s doing that very thing now. Find out more about her on her Facebook page.

So, go forth and lead. And, share. Then, teach.
