Why It’s So Important to Live with Purpose
Make the most of this one life and live with purpose.
I am here for a purpose and that purpose is to grow into a mountain, not to shrink to a grain of sand. Henceforth will I apply ALL my efforts to become the highest mountain of all and I will strain my potential until it cries for mercy.| Og Mandino
I love this quote. It sums up the last decade of my life. Prior to that, I really didn’t have a focused purpose. I was simply on a debt treadmill. I was working hard, but I was going nowhere. I had no idea what my life was really about. I truly believed that my sole mission on this planet was to earn money that could be used to repay the debt for toys I bought. I spent my idle time searching for experiences that would make me happy, instead of focusing on the care and nurturing of my family. It’s not surprising I was miserable.
Life without purpose is hollow and unfulfilling.
After the untimely death of my Father in the Fall of 2007, I began to question this existence. I looked around me and saw people living lives that made them happy. They weren’t happy because they owned a certain type of car. They were happy because their lives, their work, their very existence fulfilled something deep inside them. I needed that.
It wasn’t easy to find my purpose. I had to gain a deeper understanding of who I was as a person. Then, I had to try a few new things to see what made me feel like I was doing something worthwhile. For me, Team Beachbody had the answer.
I could see early on that it had the potential to be a monetary home run. But, that’s not what motivated me. About four months after I started coaching full time, I got an email from one of my customers. He’d lost 50 pounds with P90X and he’d completely changed his life. He sent me his Before and After pictures and told me how he was no longer afraid to go to the beach because he could finally take his shirt off. He thanked me and actually credited me with his success. It was then that I totally knew my purpose.
If you’re reading this, I’m very much hoping you’ve found your purpose in Beachbody as well. If not, I do suggest exploring every nook and cranny for it. You need to find it, so you can live with purpose and reap in the fulfillment that comes with it.
